Severance & final pay calculator

Complete breakdown under the Federal Labor Law: prorated amounts, seniority premium and indemnities. For workers who want to verify their pay and employers who want to cost out an exit before deciding on it.

Case details

Nominal salary before taxes. If there are regular commissions or bonuses, include them averaged in — they form part of the salary.

Days already worked in the last period that have not yet been paid (e.g., leaving on the 10th with the last bi-weekly period paid through the 30th of the prior month = 10 days). They are paid at the ordinary daily salary.

Days already accrued on prior anniversaries that you have not taken. The current-year days are calculated automatically.

Strictly, they apply in termination attributable to the employer and refusal to reinstate; in dismissal-negotiation practice they are used as a reference. Turn it on or off depending on your scenario.

Finiquito (final settlement)

Final settlement subtotal

Indemnity (liquidación / severance)

Applies only in unjustified dismissal or termination attributable to the employer — it is added to the final settlement.
Indemnity subtotal
Estimated total (gross)

On taxes: this total is gross. The prorated amounts (Christmas bonus, vacation, vacation premium) pay income tax (ISR) as salary with their specific exemptions; the indemnities are exempt up to 90 UMA per year of service (art. 93, section XIII LISR) and the excess is withheld under the mechanics of art. 96. On large amounts, a miscalculated withholding is common — worth reviewing.

The number you're being offered doesn't match this one?

Worker: don't sign without verifying — a signature given in error closes off claims. Employer: structure the exit with an agreement ratified before the Conciliation Center and a complete file. In both cases, the first assessment is a conversation.

How it works

Enter your data and get the breakdown by item with its legal basis. The finiquito (final settlement — prorated amounts) is paid on every termination; the indemnity of 3 months and, where applicable, 20 days per year, only when the employer terminates without cause or the worker rescinds for cause attributable to the employer. The seniority premium uses the legal cap of 2 minimum wages ($630.08 per day in 2026). Vacation follows the "dignified vacation" reform in force since 2023. Frequently asked questions

Are finiquito and liquidación the same thing?

No: the finiquito (final settlement — prorated Christmas bonus, vacation and vacation premium) is paid on EVERY termination, including resignation; the liquidación (severance — 3 months + 20 days per year + seniority premium) applies only in unjustified dismissal or termination attributable to the employer.

Is the result net or gross?

Gross. The prorated amounts pay income tax (ISR) as salary with their specific exemptions; the indemnities are exempt up to 90 UMA per year of service and the excess is withheld under the mechanics of art. 96 — on large amounts, a miscalculated withholding is common.

Do the 20 days per year always apply?

Strictly, they apply in termination attributable to the employer and refusal to reinstate; in dismissal-negotiation practice they are used as a reference. The calculator lets you turn them on or off depending on your scenario.
